Scores of labours of a plastic bag manufacting factory and relatives of a 45 year old labour Laxmi Lal Bhoi staged a dharna in front of the factory with his dead body at Madri Industrial Area of the city on Sunday.
The victim Laxmi Lal died at the factory during work and was declared brought dead by the doctors at a private Hospital after he was rushed there,claimed Jagdish Lal Bhoi Laxmi Lal’s Brother in Law.
Jagdish informed DU that the incidence occured at Mewar Polytex II a plastic bag manufacturing unit at around 4.30 am on Sunday while the victim Laxmi Lal who was the Loom Operator (Machine Operator) at the facotry was working at the plant, he suddenly felt suffocated and asked his co-workers to take him out, but as soon as they took him near the bathroom he colapsed and died.
Laxmi was a father of 3 chidren including 2 sons and a daughter.
The postmortem was conducted and the dead body was handed over to the family members of the victim but instead of cremating they took it outside the facotry and staged a protest.
A crowd of more than 500 people gathered outside the factory as the news of victim’s death spread.
The protestors demands justice for the victim claiming that his life could be saved he they have first aid at the plants.
“We are demanding that a compansation in cash should be given to the kins of the victim and either of his son should also be offered a job at the same facotry so that he can take care of his family, we will continue our protest until our demands will be fulfilled” Jagdish said.
Assitant Sub Inspector of Pratap Nagar police station told DU that the matter in under investigation, massive police force has been deployed on the scene to control the situation, the matter is still under consideration,many senior administrative officials including Girwa Tehsildar also went on the scene to take the stock of the situation, the annoyed relatives of the victim is still interacting with the representatives of the factory management and the situation is under control.
