On 23rd July, 2019, about 2800 students aged upto 15 years were vaccinated in the school campus to eliminate Measles & Rubella. This campaign was a part of 7th phase of Nationwide drive in Rajasthan.
As per the Resolution of Government of India, all SEAR countries including India, are committed to eliminate Measles Disease and control congenital Rubella syndrome by 2020.
15 teams of medical staff arrived in the school on 23rd July and under their supervision and teamwork the students were vaccinated.
As per the information provided by the government about 50000 children die due to Measles and Rubella every year in India. Measles easily spreads, if the infected person coughs and sneezes and it causes pneumonia, loose motions, brain fever and subsequently death of the child. Rubella causes body rashes and fever.
A few days before the vaccination, thenecessary information regarding this vaccination was given to the parents and the children. The children were kept under observation for 30 minutes after the vaccination and were provided with drinks / snacks by the school as a token of appreciation for their co-operation.
Parents were also allowed to be with their children during vaccination.
As stated by the Principal of the school Rev. Fr. Basil Makwana – “The St. Paul’s Senior Secondary School has been amongst the first few non-government schools in Udaipur region to actively participate in the MR Campaign, as it our aim to always support the Govt. and also ensure best of everything for our students.”
The MR Campaign arrangements, tents, seating arrangement, resting rooms, snacks distribution etc. was overall planned and taken care of by Sir S.L. Jain and Dr. Alphonse CD under the supervision of the Principal.
