The police at Udaipur resorted to mild lathi charge on a mob perticipating in an anti NRC and CAA rally on Wednesday.
The police discharged lathis only to dispurse the crowd, however a huge number of men perticipating in the rally received injuries.
The first incidence occurred on Wednesday morning at Delhigate area while the rally which was conducted under the banner of Bahujan Kranti Morcha was heading towards Chetal Circle of the with banners, and another incidence of lathi charge took place outside the collectorate.
When IG Binita Thakur was questioned about the incidences she said ” It was not a major thing, actually they were not suppose to be here, the route for the rally was a bit different but the protestors insisted to end the rally outside collectorate and somehow came here, with all that it seems that they wanted pick up a fight, beside that they also created a scene at Delhigate earlier during the rally”.
When asked about the injuries of the protesters Thakur said” I dont think so that any body got injured, let me check”.
The Bahujan Kranti Morcha has called for Bharat Bandh to protest against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizenship (NRC) following which an anti CAA and NRC rally was conducted by the members of various social associations and group under the banner of Bahujan Kranti Morcha.The rally started from the townhall area and concluded at Ambetkar circle.
Babu Lal Convener of Bahujan Kranti Morcha told DU”Our rally concluded at Ambetkar Circle after that we moved towards Collectorate to file a complaint against the department for discharging lathi on us despite being a peaceful rally, but the police allegedly encircled us to stop us from.going to the collectorate, when we resisted them they again thrashed us badly with sticks leaving tens of innocent protesters with injuries and some of them fell unconscious and were rushed to the M.B hospital for treatment”.
Babu Lal said that want action against the those who assaulted them and for that they file a complaint to district collector.
