Thursday morning turned fearfully in the city after an history sheeter and his brother allegedly opened fire at one Sajjad Hussain who is one of the witness in a case of extortion registered against the accused to refrain him from giving his statement in court.
As per the victim Sajjad the accused Sikander a history sheeter of Ambamata police station and a resident of Sajjan nagar Kacchi Basti was demanding an amount of cash as an extortion money from one Dinesh Sharma a local business man a property dealer from a long time, he met him at Swaroop Sagar bridge on Wednesday and again demanded the said amount, when Sharma refused to give him any money he thrashed him but Sajjad who is a friend of Sharma interviened and stopped Sikandar from beating him, later they lodged an FIR against Sikander at Hathipol police for beating him and Sajjad was the eye witness of the incidence.
As Sajjad was the eye witness of the incidence accused Sikander wentvto his house at Dholibawari with his brother Bhayyu on a bike to threaten him not to give statement against him in front of the court, both of them had an heated argument following which Sikander who was sitting paillon to his brother pulled out a country made pistol and opened fire at Sajjad, but the fire got missed and Sajjad remained unhurt, soon the locals got alert with day light incidence of firing and tried to catch the bike borne accused but they some how managed to escape the scene, Sajjad added.
Station House Officer of Dhan Mandi police station Manish Charan told DU that during the investment it was found that accused Sikander and Dinesh both once worked together earlier in the property business, but due to some reasons they got seprated 2 years back, Sikander than took Rs.2.5 lakhs from Dinesh and business share, but from last few months he again started chasing him for money and share in a piece of land too.
When Dinesh denied from giving any share to him he trashed him on Wednesday in front of Sajjad, added Charan.
Tough no bullet cover has been yet found at the crime scene a case has been registered against Sikander and his brother and the investigation is still on, said Charan.
