Gang of Vehicle Lifters arrested, 19 mo- bikes and an auto rickshaw seized.


Udaipur on Thursday arrested 5 vehicle lifters during a sudden checking at Jhalara police station circle and has recovered 19 motor bikes and an auto rickshaw from them, all the arrested accused are still under police interrogation and cops are attempting to collect more information from them in relation to the racket of vehicle lifters active in the district.

The arrested accused was identified by the police as Thavra Alias Laxman Meena (22), Shanti Lal Meena (19), Rajendra Alias Raju Meena (20), Harish Alias Hakra Meena (18) and Laxman Lal Meena (20) of Sarada village.


In their preliminary interrogation the accused informed the police that they has lifted the bikes and the auto rickshaw from Jhalara, Salumbar and Kaya areas of the district, later the police has recovered 17 motor bikes from the Semari , Sarada, Jhalara, Rishabdeo, Salumbar , Hiran Magri and Zawar Mines areas as per the information of the accused.

SP Rajendra Prasad Goyal told media that out of the 5 arrested accused one Thavra Meena is a notorious criminal and is having more than 17 cases registered on his name at various police station of the district. Besides that accused Shanti Lal is having 2 criminal cases and accused Harish and Laxman are having 1 case each registered on their names.

Goyal further added that all the accused are under the age of 18 to 25 years, they reportedly lift the vehicles and use to sell them in the market with an intention of living a lavish life, first they use to store  the stolen vehicles at an isolated place and sell it to their customer at any lower prizes.

This is to be considered that the gang of vehicle lifters get exposed during the investigation of a case of 2 wheeler theft occurred on February 10th at Jhalara, the investigating team consists of Adsp District Chandrasheel Thakur, Dysp Salumbar. Ashok Kumar Meena, SHO Jhalara police station Shaitan Singh Nathavat, SHO Salumbar Herambh Joshi and their teams.

During the investigation of the matter Adsp Takhur got inputs about the gang heading towards Jhala village, upon getting the information verified Thakur has conducted the a sudden road checking at the highway with his team and later during the checking they nabbed the accused, Goyal added.

All the arrested accused has been booked under section 379 of IPC and the vehicles are seized under section 102 of Crpc.
