A duo of an Assitant Engineer and Junior Engineer working with Water Shed and Soil Conservation depatment who demanded and accepted a bribe amount of Rs.2.04 lakhs was nabbed red handed by the team of Anti Corruption Bureau of Udaipur on Monday.
The officers Vipin Bapna and Gopal Patel was trapped while accpetibg bribe amount of Rs. 2.04 lakhs from the complainant.
The accused have demand and accepted the bribe amount of Rs. 2.04 lakhs from the complainant Contractor against sancstioning the bills of constructing sheds and walls at pasture lands for the department.
The complainant informed the ACB team that he recenly got a work order from Water Shed and Soil Conservation department of Rs. 1 crore under which he has to construct water sheds and boundary walls for the department, out of the total amount the of Rs.80 lakhs has been completed by the victim so far and he had already paid 20% of the amount first bill of Rs. 40 lakhs to the accused as bribe earlier, but when he presented the second of another Rs. 40 lakhs the accused demanded him to pay Rs.2.04 lakhs in cas and has taken a cheque of Rs. 7 lakhs from him, Additional Sp ACB Dr. Rajesh Bhardwaj.
Bhardwaj further informed that the victim contractor contacted ACB team and filled a complaint against the accused, upo verifying the complainant the AC team have nabbed accused Assistant Engineer Vipin Bapna from his resident while he was accepting the bribe amount from the victim, the team later arrested the Junior Engineer Gopal Patel after he was found involved in the crime with Bapna.
The cash and the cheque was seized whereas the accused duo has been booked under various sections of IPC and Anti Corruption Act.
The ACB has also seized an amount of Rs. 1.53 lakhs cash and few documents of property later during the house check conducted at accused Bapna’s house located at J-Road Bhopalpura area of the city.
