The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) Jaipur trapped a financial adviser of Smart City Project for accepting a bribe amount of Rs.2 lakhs in cash for approving the bills of the construction work done under the project.
Abid Khan a resident of Jhalawad district and the financial advisor of the Smart City project demanded Rs.3lakhs from the complainant Praveen Kumar a civil contractor attached with Smart City project for passing the pending bills of the construction work done by him under the project.
Out of the total demanded amount the accused had already taken Rs.1 lakh from the victim on Thursday and asked him to deliver the remaining amount on Friday at his office.
Deputy Sp ACB Jaipur Sanjiv Nain told media that fed up with the demands of the accused the contractor approached his team 3 days back filled a complaint against him.
Upon verifying the complaint the ACB team raided his office on Friday and arrested him while he was accepting the remaining amount of Rs.2 lakhs from the victim, team has also arrested one of his aid Arif Khan a resident of Silawatwadi area of Udaipur and an employ of Udaipur Municipal Corporation in connection of the crime, Nain added.
Both the accused has been booked under the sections of Prevention of Corruption Act and are under interrogation, Nain added.
Nain said that “The complainant Praveen Kumar approached ACB Jaipur claiming that he is a civil contractor attached to Smart City Project, but when ever he contact the financial advisor of the project Abid Khan either for alloting him new work or for sanctioning the bills of the work already done by him in past Khan demands bribe of Rs.3 lakhs against that, upon getting the complaint from him a special team has been consitituted by Dinesh MN and the verification of the complaint gas been started “.
