26 year old law student arrested for threatening female journalist on Twitter

Udaipur have arrested a 26 year old Law student of the city for threatening a female journalist for criminal intimidation and insulting her modestiy on Twitter on Friday.

Rohini Singh a senior journalist of Delhi took to her Twitter Handle to inform Inspector General of Police Udaipur range Satyaveer Singh that one of the Twitter user from has threatened her for raping and killing her on Friday, she also tagged the CM Ashok Gehlot demanding action.
Following the complaint by Singh Udaipur police took a cognizance and registered  a case against a person with Twitter Account ”KViayan’.

On the other hand CM Ashok Gehlot through a tweet directed the Udaipur IG and SP to look into the matter and take action.

Acting upon the CM’s direction and taking the matter seriously various police teams started a hunt for the identification  and arrest of the culprit.

Rohini on Friday night at 9.10 pm shared a tweet to IG Udaipur Satyaveer Singh saying ‘Dear@IGUdaipur, This handle-@KViayan is sending me rape threats on Twitter DM. He is Udaipur based. Bringing this criminal to your attention’ and this also tagged CM Ashok Gehlot in this tweet.
Latet IG instructed SP Udaipur Dr. Rajeev Pachar to take action against the culprit and the investigation of the matter was handed over to Additional SP Head Quarter Anant Kumar.

IG Satyaveer Singh while talking to our team on Saturday  said “The Culprit Kapil Viayan has been detained and is under police interrogation, he will be arrested under various sections of IPC and IT acts once the questioning ends and further action will be taken accordingly”.
Satyaveer Singh said that during his  interrogation the culprit Kapil revealed that he has tweeted to the journalist to show his anger against her pattern of reporting of The Farmer’s agitation at Delhi.
He is a second year student of Law and a resident of Semari village of Udaipur, his father is a retired Patwari.
