Chagan Jat one of the drug agent of Chittorgarh who was arrested by the sleuth of Anti Corruption Bureau of Jodhpur on production warrant from Chittorgarh Jail on Monday in connection with the an opium racket that was recently busted by the ACB team, he was produced in front of the ACB court on Tuesday which remanded him under police custody remand for 10 days,said Additional Sp ACB Chandrasheel Thakur.
Thakur said that thd drug peddlers and agents were causing aa huge loss of revenue to the government anx also encouraging the smuggling of opium.
Thakur informed DU that we have recently arrested the Sai Ram Meena the Commisioner of Narcotics department in connection with opium racket, during his interogation we got names of few more senior officials of the department and later we have arrested the Superintendent of Narcotics burue of Chittorgarh Sudheer Kumar Yadav,Sub Inspector Bhanu Pratap Singh and Head Constable Praveen Singh and booked them under provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act.
The ACB team has raided the settlements of few drug agents and peddlers during which more 125 kilograms of Opium was seized from accused Chagan Jat, the team has filled a case against 5 other people along with Chagan for stealing and smuggling the Opium produce of the farmers at Chittorgarh,Thakur added.
” It is a case of organised corruption and Anti National, during the investigation of the case we have found that the drug peddlers and agents are stealing the extra produce of Opium from the farmers and smuggling to it to other countries like Afganistan and Pakistan,we have also learnt that a huge number of officials of Narcotics and Police department are involved in the nexus and causing losses to government revenue”,said Thakur.
While talking about the modus operandi of the racket Thakur said the Narcotics officials cheat the opium farmers at the time of land measurement and at the time weighing the opium produced,they use store the stolen quantity and use to smuggle it against of crores of rupees with help of the drug agents Chagan and 1 of his aide Kishanw.
The inveatigatuon of the matter is still underway,the accused Chagan ia now under PC remand for 10 days and he will be interogated further in relation the nexus of the Opiym,Thakur said.
