The 4th Asian Power Lifting Championship started at Udaipur on Wednesday.
Inaugrated by Udaipur MP Arjun Lal Meena in the presence of President of Asian Power lifting Federation Farshid Soltani the event is organised by The Asian Power Lifting Federation and Power Lifting India.
The 5 day event is held at Ananta Resorts of Udaipur from between 2nd to 6th May.It will have different catagories like Senior,Junior,Sub-Junior and Master depending upon ages.
President of Power Lifting India Association Rajesh Tiwari told DU that more than 250 contestants from 18 countries of the world including Mongolia,Uzbekistan, Hongkong, Philippines Malaysia,Sri Lanka,Afganistan,China, IndonesiaIran,Iran and Oman will take part in the Championship under different catagories.
He further said that this is for the first time that four members of the Indian Power lifting team have been selected from Rajasthan, among those four one Mihir Soni is from Udaipur, he will perticipate under Junior under 59 kilograms catagory where as Rajkumari Yadav and Devendra Vyas of Bhikaner will represent in Sub Junior catagory under weight catagory of 53 and 84 kilograms, besides that Vikram Singh Chauhan of Bikaner will perticipate in Master catagory of the Championship under 93 kilograms weight catagory.
The winners of the event will not only be given medals but tvey will be awarded with the titles of Strong Man and Woman of Asia,Tiwari said.
